Laura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon was born on March 22, 1976. Witherspoon has received numerous awards, including an Academy Award, a British Academy Film Award and the Primetime Emmy Award, and two Golden Globe Awards, she has consistently ranked among the top actresses paid in the world. Time magazine and Forbes both included her in the top 100 most influential people on the world in the years the years of 2015 and 2006, respectively. In 2021, Forbes named her the highest-paid actress in the world, with an estimated amount of $400 million.Witherspoon began her acting career as a teenagerand made her film debut in The Man in the Moon (1991). In 1999, she made her name with her part of a supporting actress in Cruel Intentions. She was also famous for playing Tracy Flick as Election's black comedy. Her role in Legally Blonde (2001 and its sequel 2003) and in Sweet Home Alabama (2002 ) brought her greater recognition. She was awarded the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance as June Carter Cash in the musical biopic Walk the Line. After a career slump, in which Water for Elephants (2011) was her only box-office hit, Witherspoon decided to make a comeback and produce and play Cheryl Strayed, the drama Wild (2014). The film brought her another Academy Award nomination for Best Actress. She has continued to perform predominantly in television and has been a part of and produced many female-led adaptations of literature under Hello Sunshine. They include the HBO drama series Big Little Lies (2017-2019), the Apple TV+ drama series The Morning Show (2019-present) and the Hulu miniseries Little Fires Everywhere (2020). She won the Primetime Emmy Award in Outstanding Limited Series for the series' first season. She also directed the film adaptations Gone Girl (2014) and Where the Crawdads Sing (2022).Witherspoon also owns a clothing line, Draper James, and she is active in children's and women's advocacy organizations. She is a member of the board of the Children's Defense Fund and was named Global Ambassador of Avon Products in 2007. In this capacity, she also serves as the honorary chair of Avon Foundation's charitable foundation dedicated to women's issues.
